Heather Hermant is a Toronto-based interdisciplinary poet, performer, facilitator, curator, scholar and educator. She works across genres including spoken word and storytelling, physical theatre, video and sound, social practice and community arts. She has taught Community Engaged Research at University of Toronto; Community Arts Practice at York University, Toronto; and at the Women and Gender Studies Institute, University of Toronto. She holds an Hon. B.Sc in Ecology and Environmental Biology from the University of British Columbia; a Magisteriate in Environmental Studies from York University; and a PhD in Gender Studies from Utrecht University, The Netherlands. Heather was an Associate Artist at Vancouver’s urban ink productions from 2006-2014. Her work in a variety of media has been shown locally and internationally and she has been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, the Toronto Arts Council as well as through numerous residencies and partnerships.
